If you're a fan of *The Last of Us* eagerly awaiting news on a potential *Part 3*, you might want to brace yourself. Series creator Neil Druckmann has recently doused hopes of a sequel in a candid interview with Variety, primarily focused on the upcoming TV series adaptation. When the topic shifted to *The Last of Us Part 3*, Druckmann's response was clear and disheartening:
"I was waiting for this question," he remarked with a sigh. "I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of 'Last of Us.' This could be it."
Whether to take Druckmann's words at face value is up for debate. Currently, Naughty Dog is fully engaged with their new project *Intergalactic*, unveiled at The Game Awards last December. With no release date in sight, it's evident that the studio's focus is firmly on this space-themed endeavor, leaving little room for *The Last of Us Part 3* in the near future. It's possible Druckmann is playing his cards close to the chest or simply isn't ready to confirm anything. Time might alter his stance, or he might indeed be ready to move on from the franchise. Only time will tell.
For those still hungry for more *The Last of Us*, the television series offers a promising alternative. The second season is set to premiere on April 13 on Max. While Druckmann remains uncertain about the number of seasons needed to fully adapt *Part 2*, an HBO executive hinted in February that four seasons might be the ideal length to tell the complete story.
