In the latest "here comes a new remake" news—or, if you're a bit more optimistic, "here comes another Stephen King movie" news—a brand new adaptation of Cujo is about to bare its teeth.
Netflix is set to produce a new film version of King's chilling tale, according to Deadline, with Vertigo Entertainment founder and producer Roy Lee attached to the project. However, the film is still in its early stages, with no writers, directors, or cast members announced yet.
Originally published in 1981, Stephen King's novel Cujo was swiftly adapted into a 1983 cult classic horror film by Don Carlos Dunaway and Barbara Turner, directed by Lewis Teague. The gripping story follows a determined mother, portrayed by Dee Wallace, who will stop at nothing to protect her young son from a rabid dog. The duo finds themselves trapped in a car with a dead engine, battling for survival as Cujo, transformed from a gentle pet into a deadly threat after being bitten by a rabid bat, stalks them relentlessly. As the heat inside the vehicle becomes unbearable, their struggle intensifies.
