On the My Nintendo Store, account holders can now register their interest in pre-ordering the Nintendo Switch 2 console and select accessories. Registrants will receive an invitation email when their turn arrives, which will be valid for 72 hours. However, priority access requires a history with the platform: you'll need an active Nintendo Switch Online membership with at least 12 months of paid service and a minimum of 50 total gameplay hours on a Switch system.
According to the site's details, "Invitation emails will be prioritized on a first-come, first-served basis to registrants who have purchased a Nintendo Switch Online membership with a minimum of 12 months of paid membership and a minimum of 50 total gameplay hours, as of April 2, 2025."
Nintendo also states that invitations are non-transferable and will be sent to the email linked to the Nintendo Account used for registration. There is a limit of one system and one of each accessory per account during this invitation phase. Currently, you can indicate interest in either the standard Nintendo Switch 2 or a bundle that includes Mario Kart World.
Orders will ship after purchase, with an estimated shipping date provided at checkout. Nintendo clarifies, "Please note that release-day delivery is not guaranteed due to processing and shipment times."
While not explicitly stated, these measures appear designed to prioritize buyers who intend to use the console themselves, rather than resell it at a markup online.
