Path of Exile 2's Atlas offers four major endgame encounters: Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. Rituals, inspired by the original Path of Exile's Ritual League, are a significant endgame activity. This guide details how to initiate Ritual events, understand their mechanics, utilize the Ritual Passive Skill Tree, conquer the Pinnacle boss, and maximize rewards from the Tribute and Favour system.
Understanding PoE 2 Rituals and Altars
On the Atlas, map nodes guaranteeing endgame events are marked with specific icons. Ritual Altars are indicated by a red pentagram with a demonic face. A Ritual Precursor Tablet, slotted into a completed Lost Tower, guarantees a Ritual encounter on a chosen map node.
Entering a map with a Ritual spawns several Altars. Each map features a shared random modifier impacting enemy types or mechanics. These modifiers might introduce hordes of rats or spreading pools of life-draining blood.
Locate an Altar, examine its modifiers, and interact to trigger a massive enemy wave. Remain within the designated circle; venturing into the shadows ends the event without rewards. A map is considered complete once all Rituals are successfully finished.
Conquering the Pinnacle Boss: The King in the Mists
The Ritual reward system offers "An Audience With The King," a unique currency granting access to The Crux Of Nothingness, the King in the Mists' lair. Use this currency at your Realmgate on the Atlas map to initiate the fight.
The King in the Mists mirrors his campaign counterpart. Practice is available in Act 1 Cruel difficulty, Freythorn zone. Victory yields 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at unique PoE 2 items, powerful currencies, and Omen items.
Mastering the Ritual Passive Skill Tree
The Atlas Passive Skill Tree includes a red, five-pronged Ritual Passive Skill Tree. This tree modifies Ritual events, improving rewards, reducing Tribute costs, and boosting unique currency drop rates. Access it via the Atlas Map's top-left button, located in the bottom right of the main Atlas tree.
The tree features eight Notable nodes and eight nodes increasing King in the Mists difficulty. Defeating the King in the Mists provides 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, necessitating increased difficulty for each new Notable node.
Prioritize "From The Mists," "Spreading Darkness," and "Ominous Portents" for enhanced rewards. Subsequently, focus on "Tempting Offers" and "He Approaches" for increased chances at valuable Omens and "An Audience With The King."
Understanding PoE 2 Ritual Event Rewards
Completed Rituals award Tribute, a temporary currency exchanged for Favours (randomized items). More Altars completed increase Tribute and unlock additional Favours, ranging from Magic items and low-level Currencies to Rare gear and high-tier Currencies. "An Audience With The King" is exclusively obtained via Favours.
Omens, exceptionally powerful items enhancing other Currency items, are potential Favour rewards. Omens are consumed upon activation. Examples include Omens of Annulment and Alchemy, offering targeted modifier manipulation. Omens are highly valuable, either for use or trading.
Rituals also yield regular high-tier Currencies (Exalted Orbs, Vaal Orbs, etc.). The King in the Mists has a chance to drop Uniques from a pool exclusive to the Ritual event.
