Max has unveiled the first trailer for Peacemaker Season 2, immediately establishing ties to Superman by featuring major DC characters in its opening sequence.
A Rough Superhero Interview
The preview introduces Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, and Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl conducting an interview with John Cena's Peacemaker for an unspecified superhero team. The encounter quickly turns disastrous, leaving Peacemaker visibly humiliated as he storms out.
"Achieving peace is a team effort.
Season ✌️ of #Peacemaker is streaming August 21 on Max."
These character appearances offer fans their first glimpse at several figures from James Gunn's upcoming Superman film before its July 11 debut. The highly anticipated second season premieres August 21 on Max.
Bridging Two DC Universes
Peacemaker represents one of the few elements transitioning from the discontinued DC Extended Universe (DCEU) to the new DCU continuity under Gunn and Peter Safran's leadership. While most previous Justice League-related projects are being abandoned, selected characters and actors will carry forward.
Gunn confirmed that "many strands will remain consistent as far as Peacemaker's story goes," though specific continuity details remain unclear. The entire original cast returns, including John Cena alongside Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Freddie Stroma, and Danielle Brooks.
The series chronologically follows both Creature Commandos and Superman within DCU continuity, with events from Superman directly impacting Peacemaker's storyline.
