Exciting news for fans of *The Last of Us*! HBO has officially announced that Season 2 of the critically acclaimed series will premiere on Sunday, April 13 at 9pm ET/PT. Not only will it air on HBO, but it will also be available to stream on Max. The season is set to run for seven episodes, and to ramp up the excitement, HBO has released new character posters featuring Joel, Ellie, and Abby.
Set five years after the gripping events of the first season, *The Last of Us Season 2* will continue the journey of Joel and Ellie, now living with Joel's brother Tommy in their Montana commune. This season will delve into the storyline from *The Last of Us Part II*, a game familiar to fans of the series, promising an intense continuation of their saga.
Joining the returning stars Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie are some exciting new cast members. Kaitlyn Dever steps into the role of Abby, with Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazine as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, and Tati Gabrielle as Nora. Notably, Tati Gabrielle will also be starring as the main protagonist in Naughty Dog’s upcoming game, *Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet*.

The first season of The Last of Us was a massive success for HBO, earning widespread acclaim and numerous awards. Created by Craig Mazin of Chernobyl fame and Neil Druckmann, head of Naughty Dog, the series swept the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards and received nominations for five Primetime Emmys, including Outstanding Drama Series, Lead Actor, Lead Actress, Outstanding Director, and Outstanding Writing.
Given the success of the first season, HBO is eager for more, with Francesca Orsi hinting at plans for a total of four seasons. This means that Season 2 will not cover the entirety of *The Last of Us Part II*, leaving fans eager for more of the story to unfold in future seasons.
