Split Fiction Hits 2 Million Sales After Just 1 Week

Hazelight Games announced that their latest co-op adventure, Split Fiction, has continued its phenomenal start by selling 2 million copies in just one week. Launched on March 6 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, the game has quickly become another success story for the studio. Hazelight expressed their gratitude on social media, stating they are "blown away" by the support from both new and returning fans.

The game's initial sales update revealed that 1 million copies were sold within the first 48 hours of its release, meaning an additional million copies were sold in the following five days. Split Fiction's co-op nature means the number of players enjoying the game is likely much higher than the sales figures suggest, especially thanks to the innovative Friend’s Pass feature. This allows one player to buy the game and invite a friend to play at no extra cost. As the buzz around Split Fiction continues to grow on social media, the number of copies sold is expected to rise even further.

Hazelight's previous hit, 2021 Game of the Year winner It Takes Two, followed a similar trajectory. It sold around 1 million copies a few weeks after its launch in March 2021, eventually reaching 10 million copies by February 2023 and an impressive 20 million by October 2024.

In IGN's Split Fiction review, the game was praised as “an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another,” highlighting its dynamic and engaging gameplay.
