Lucasfilm has confirmed Star Wars: Starfighter, an upcoming blockbuster directed by Shawn Levy (Deadpool & Wolverine) starring Ryan Gosling, scheduled for theatrical release on May 28, 2027. The story unfolds five years after the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
The announcement was made during Star Wars Celebration, with filming set to commence this autumn.
While details remain sparse, we know Gosling will portray an original character in Star Wars: Starfighter - giving fans ample time to plan their 2027 Memorial Weekend celebrations.
In a touching reveal, Gosling shared that his mother sent him a childhood photo of his Star Wars-themed bedsheets upon landing the role.

Star Wars: Starfighter joins Lucasfilm's upcoming slate including The Mandalorian & Grogu and projects from Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, Taika Waititi, and Simon Kinberg's trilogy.
The title may sound familiar to fans - Star Wars: Starfighter was originally a 2001 video game release.
