The arrival of Final Destination: Bloodlines in theaters marks an exhilarating moment for fans as the sixth installment of this iconic franchise finally hits the big screen. True to form, the film wouldn’t be complete without legendary actor Tony Todd, best known for his chilling role as the original Candyman. Todd delivers a gripping monologue—one that was entirely improvised, as producer Craig Perry revealed, calling his final performance "deeply bittersweet."
"We were all aware of his declining health," Perry shared with Deadline, reflecting on Todd’s legacy while discussing both the new film and his journey producing the franchise since 2000. "It was clear this would be his last role, and having it be part of Final Destination made the moment even more profound."
Perry explained how directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein took a bold creative approach during Todd’s scene, encouraging him to speak spontaneously rather than follow the script.
"The directors made a brilliant call—they scrapped the final lines and told Tony, ‘Just speak from your heart. What message would you want to share with your fans?’" Perry recounted. "The raw emotion in that moment comes from Tony addressing his supporters directly through the lens, thanking them for years of dedication. Filming it felt like pure magic—an unforgettable experience I'll carry with me forever."
