Marvel Rivals game-breaking bug punishes players with low FPS

A Reddit user uncovered a game-breaking bug in Marvel Rivals that disproportionately affects players with less powerful computers. Low FPS (frames per second) causes several heroes to move slower and inflict reduced damage, effectively turning the game into a "pay-to-win" scenario where upgrading PC hardware, rather than in-game purchases, becomes necessary for competitive play.

This is clearly a bug, not an intended game mechanic. However, a swift fix isn't likely. The underlying issue stems from the Delta Time parameter – a crucial element in game design that ensures consistent gameplay regardless of frame rate. Resolving this complex technical problem will require considerable developer time and effort.

The following heroes are currently known to be affected:

  • Doctor Strange
  • Wolverine
  • Venom
  • Magik
  • Star-Lord

These characters exhibit slower movement, reduced jump height, and diminished damage output. Other heroes may also be impacted. Until a patch is released, players are advised to optimize their FPS settings, even if it means compromising visual fidelity.
