Diablo 3's annual "Fall of Tristram" event, a beloved tradition among fans, is set to conclude on February 1. Despite requests from the community to extend the event, Blizzard's community manager, pezradar, has stated that it is not feasible at this time. "I asked about Tristram and the possibility of extending it, but unfortunately [the event] is hard-coded and it's impossible to make server-side fixes," pezradar explained.
In addition to the event's conclusion, pezradar addressed the delay of Season 34 of Call of Light, which has disrupted weekend plans for some players. "I'm sorry. It's not what I was hoping for. We were notified about 24 hours before we had to adjust the time. The team needs to create new code to ensure a smooth transition between seasons after problems with the automatic scheduler that ended [last 33rd] season early in early January," he said. The additional time will be used to implement and test new code, ensuring a seamless transfer of player progress. Pezradar also acknowledged the need for improved communication with the community in the future, stating that the team is aware and working on it.
In other gaming news, Wolcen Studio has announced Project Pantheon, a free-to-play combat role-playing game that incorporates elements of extraction shooter mechanics. The first closed alpha testing will commence on January 25 for players in Europe, followed by North American players on February 1. Game director Andrei Cirkulete described the game as a blend of "the tension and risk reward of an extraction shooter with the battle dynamics of combat role-playing games," drawing inspiration from titles like Diablo and Escape from Tarkov. Players will assume the role of a messenger of Death, tasked with restoring order to a shattered world. The studio is keen to gather feedback from the player community as they move forward with development.
