Dune: Awakening developer Funcom has announced an upcoming fix for players frustrated by being repeatedly crushed by helicopters—known in-game as Ornithopters—during PvP encounters.
As highlighted by Redditor Bombe18 in the video below, there is currently little recourse if an Ornithopter targets you. The moment you self-revive, the aircraft returns to eliminate you again in an unavoidable cycle. This method of defeat is especially aggravating because it is nearly impossible to counter without a missile launcher.
Dune developers, I accept losing in PvP. But being crushed by an Orni that takes zero damage? Unacceptable.

"Dune developers, I accept losing in PvP," wrote Bombe18 (via Eurogamer). "But being crushed by an Orni that takes no damage? No." The player also proposed potential fixes: either make the Ornithopter take damage upon colliding with players or simply disable its ability to crush opponents from the air.
Fortunately, Funcom quickly acknowledged the issue raised by Bombe18 and other players.
"Sorry about this," responded Joel Bylos, Funcom’s Chief Creative Officer. "We have a team working on a fix for the goomba-stomping mechanic as soon as possible."
It’s not just Ornithopters that remain undamaged—the same applies to all vehicles. Players worry that unless Funcom addresses this issue across the board, the PvP meta may simply shift from Ornis to another equally frustrating tactic. Hopefully, a comprehensive solution will arrive soon.
Aside from this PvP concern, Dune: Awakening has had a highly successful launch, earning a 'Very Positive' user review rating on Steam. Within hours of its release on June 10, Funcom's survival MMO attracted over 142,000 concurrent players on Valve’s platform, with player numbers expected to grow over the weekend.
