Originally conceived as the passion project of solo developer Yang Bing, Lost Soul Aside has evolved into a significant title under Sony's China Hero Project. Bing, now the founder and CEO of Shanghai-based studio Ultizero Games, has seen the project grow from a solo endeavor to a major Sony-published title. The excitement around Lost Soul Aside has been building since its trailer reveal at Sony's State of Play broadcast, with many praising the game for its blend of Final Fantasy-style characters and Devil May Cry-inspired combat. The buzz began as early as 2016 when Bing's initial reveal video went viral.

In Lost Soul Aside, players control the main character, Kesar, who wields a versatile shape-shifting weapon that allows for varied playstyles. Kesar is accompanied by a dragon-like companion named Arena, who can summon abilities to aid in battles. The game focuses on aerial dodging, precise timing, intricate combos, and countering, all set within large-scale boss fights. The narrative takes players across multiple dimensions, blending sci-fi elements with contemporary aesthetics. While the full story arc remains somewhat mysterious based on the trailers, Bing describes Kesar's journey as one of "redemption and discovery."

IGN recently had the chance to discuss the long road to launch with Yang Bing, highlighting the evolution of Lost Soul Aside from a solo creator's vision to the much-anticipated game it is today.
